The Lawrenceville Mainstreets program provides organizational support
and funding to support the growth of Lawrenceville's two designated "Main Street" districts: Butler Street (between 34th and 55th Streets) and Penn Avenue (between 40th Street and Friendship Avenue).
The Mainstreets Program is a comprehensive approach to community revitalization focused on four main points:
- Organization: getting community stakeholders working toward the same goals. Our Mainstreets Committee and other enthusiastic community volunteers provide a critical foundation to implement our Mainstreets programming.
- Design: getting the Main Street in top physical shape, including building facades, clean and green streetscapes, signage, and street decor.
- Promotion: selling the image and promise of Main Street by marketing its unique characteristics.
- Economic Restructuring: growing the economic vitality of Main Street, including providing assistance to existing businesses and recruiting new businesses.
Since 1990, the Lawrenceville Corporation
(and its predecessor organization) has provided Mainstreet support
through the Streetface façade
renovation program. We've also provided promotional funding to support community events and activities like the Joy of Cookies Tour.
Today, Lawrenceville is a fully funded Mainstreet district, and we focus on all four points of the program. Current Mainstreet Initiatives.
Mainstreets Pittsburgh is a program of the Urban Redevelopment Authority and is funded in part by the City of Pittsburgh, Mayor Luke Ravenstahl, and the Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development.
