Jonathan Cox currently serves as Director of the East End Partnership of Pittsburgh, an initiative of the Bloomfield-Garfield Corporation, East Liberty Development Incorporated, Friendship Development Associates, and the Lawrenceville Corporation. The Partnership is a community development collaboration that engages in joint planning and implementation of revitalization strategies in Pittsburgh’s Lawrenceville, Friendship, Bloomfield, Garfield, and East Liberty neighborhoods.As the Partnership’s first Director, Jonathan’s role is to help shape, guide, and carry out the process of collaboration and the implementation of priorities.
Previously, Jonathan worked as Vice President of Operations for the Pittsburgh Downtown Partnership (PDP), a nonprofit organization that manages downtown Pittsburgh’s business improvement district and contributes to the revitalization of downtown. Through management of PDP’s public space and public safety programs, Jonathan helped to create the clean, safe, and welcoming environment necessary for a strong and vibrant urban center.
Jonathan sits on advisory boards for the Allegheny Regional Asset District and Allegheny County’s Homeless Alliance. He is a 2004 graduate of Leadership Pittsburgh.
Before moving to Pittsburgh in 2001, Jonathan worked as a curator and administrator in museums and historical organizations in Philadelphia, Harrisburg, and Hershey Pennsylvania. He received his B.A. and M.A. degrees from the University of Delaware.
Jonathan lives in Squirrel Hill with his wife, Eleanor, and daughters Abigail and Charlotte. He is an old house nut who will take a long list of unfinished projects with him to the grave.
